It was an honour for IN:PR to assist Nelisa Mchunu in hosting a soup kitchen, an endeavour that has left an indelible mark on our hearts. Nelisa chose to support the Abalindi Children's Home, inspired by their touching story of community spirit and the creation of the Abalindi Welfare Society. This initiative offers vital support to individuals, young and old, who lack familial support.
Our dedicated team, including Ceecee Mobasa, Milani Motlohi, Carol Mkhize, and Siphesihle Yeni, assembled at the Abalindi Children’s Home to bring Nelisa’s vision to life. The day was filled with energy and enthusiasm as we prepared to make a difference.
In the kitchen, Chef Milzzy was a whirlwind of activity, crafting delicious soups that would soon warm the hearts and bellies of the children. Meanwhile, Nelisa, Ceecee, and Siphesihle engaged with the children outside, filling the air with laughter and joy through various games and activities. The playground was alive with happiness, and the time spent there seemed to pass all too quickly.
When lunchtime arrived, the children were invited into the dining hall, where they were seated and served a bowl of soup of their choice after a moment of grace. The simple act of sharing a meal together was profoundly moving.
Following lunch, we returned outdoors to spend the remaining time with the children. The connections formed and the shared joy made the farewell a deeply emotional moment. The love and warmth exchanged were truly heartwarming, and the children’s gentle, kind-hearted nature left a lasting impact on us all.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Sibilya, Pastor Sibisi, and the entire Abalindi Children's Home community for their hospitality. This memorable day will forever be cherished, and we eagerly anticipate returning to offer our support once more.
